We are pleased to announce that next year’s International Symposium of the SPP2453 will take place at the GenoHotel Forsbach from May 27-29, 2026.
We are delighted that numerous top-class scientists have already agreed to give a guest lecture during the meeting.

Additionally, the meeting will feature talks from the principal investigators of the SPP2453, a poster session and plenty of time for informal interaction.
We will start the symposium with a one-day Postdoc/PhD student meeting. Therefore, we look forward to all SPP2453-associated Postdocs/PhD students arriving already on May 26, 2026. For the PIs and invited guest speakers the meeting will start on May 27, 2026.

The Summer School on „Protein import into mitochondria“ took place at the Institute of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Bonn, from September 01–04, 2025.
A total of 18 young scientists associated with the SPP23453 from all over Germany came together to learn different methods to analyze protein import into mitochondria. The Summer School was featured by exciting experiments, lively poster discussions and interesting guest lectures by Prof. Dr. Thomas Becker (UKB Bonn) and Dr. Daniele Bano (DZNE, Bonn). Besides, there was plenty of time to get to know each other better.

SPP2453 Retreat 2025
A great success!
This year's retreat of the Priority Program SPP2453 „Integration of mitochondria into the cellular proteostasis network” took place at the GenoHotel Forsbach in Rösrath from June 10 to 12, 2025. A total of 66 SPP members and associates discussed their scientific progress in an interactive environment. During the three inspriring days, the PIs gave talks on the current status of their tandem or tridem projects, while the PhD students and Postdocs presented a scientific poster. Exciting guest lectures were given by Prof. Dr. Agnieszka Chacińska, (IMol, Poland), Dr. Dejana Mokranjac (LMU Munich) and Prof. Dr. Paul Schanda (ISTA, Austria). In addition to the scientific program, there was plenty of time for informal interaction.
We would like to thank all speakers and poster presenters for their contributions and three wonderful days of outstanding science. This meeting was a great success and we are already looking forward to next year's retreat!
